Dallas Cowboys: 3 free agents who still make sense
3. Jeremy Maclin 6’0 200lbs
Jeremy Maclin is a 30-year old wide receiver who has played eight season in the NFL. Maclin was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 19th pick in the first round of the 2009 draft. While in Philly, Maclin posted some very solid season. He caught at least four touchdowns in all of his five seasons in Philly, and even had two 10 touchdown reception seasons.
In 2015 as a free agent, Maclin signed a five-year $55 million dollar contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. The contract started off great for Maclin and the Chiefs, as in 2015 he recorded a 1,000 yard season, and caught eight touchdown passes.
Expectations were still high for Maclin, and the 2016 season sent him on a downward spiral. His year was plagued by injuries and poor play, and at the end of the season he was cut by the Chiefs, just two years into his five year deal.
In 2017 he was picked up by the Baltimore Ravens, and had a fairly pedestrian year. He caught 40 passes for 440 yards, and scored three touchdowns. While Maclin seems like his best years may be behind him, he could still be an interesting option for the Cowboys.
With the current Terrance Williams situation, the Cowboys may need another veteran to come in and try to make the team if they are forced to part ways with Terrance. Maclin would not be guaranteed a roster spot by any means, but he would be a nice addition to bring in to add another veteran to a very young wide receiver group.

Much like Thomas, Maclin could at the very least add some nice leadership to the younger players, and if he is able to turn back the clock and play like he did in 2015, he could add another solid target in the Dallas offense. If the Cowboys can get Maclin on a cheap, non-guaranteed deal, it would be well worth the risk, especially if they are forced to make a move regarding Terrance Williams,
