2. Kenny Vaccaro FS 6’0 214 lbs

Kenny Vaccaro has played five season in the NFL, all as a member of the New Orleans Saints. After being drafted with the 15th pick in the first round of the 2013 draft, Vaccaro never quite lived up to his potential.

Vaccaro has also struggled with suspension and injuries in his short NFL career limiting the number of games he has been able to be on the field for. In December of 2016, he was suspended four games for violating the NFL’s performance enhancing drug policy, and in 2017 last season, he was only able to appear in 12 games due to a season ending injury.

Although he never did live up to the lofty expectations, Vaccaro has had a knack for taking the ball away. He has eight career interceptions, more than any current member of the Cowboys secondary, and had his best season taking the ball away in 2017, recording three interceptions in just 12 games.

Earlier in the offseason, it seemed to be made clear that the Cowboys were not interested in any of the free agent safeties who were available, but as the summer goes on this can for sure change.

Whether by injury, or poor play and performance, the Cowboys could for sure be in the market for a starting caliber safety as the next few months go by.

Vaccaro would be a solid option for the Cowboys, if they can get him for a short term deal. With his injury history, he is not a guy Dallas would be smart to invest a-lot of years on, but if he is willing to take a short term prove it deal, he would be a very intriguing possibility to help the Dallas secondary.
