RB 3- Tavon Austin (gadget back) 5’8 179 lbs

After being acquired from the Los Angeles Rams during the draft, Tavon Austin will bring much versatility to the Cowboys offense. Earlier this week Stephen Jones said the Cowboys plan to use Austin as a “Web Back” and plan to get the ball in his hands as much as possible.

After being a first round pick coming out of college, Austin has not really lived up to expectations in his career, but he does provide a rare element of speed to an offense that Dallas does lack.

Austin has never ran for more than 430 yards in a season, so do not look for the Cowboys to use him as a traditional running back. I think you will see Austin running some jet sweep like plays to get him the ball in space.

And also look for him to be a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield. With the speed he has if the Cowboys can be creative enough to find a way to get him the ball in space, Austin can make big things happen for their offense.

Prediction: 19 rushes, 212 yards, 1 touchdown, 39 receptions, 405 yards, 3 touchdowns.

RB 4- Bo Scarbrough 6’1 228 lbs

The Cowboys selected Scarbrough in the 7th round of the NFL draft, and the Alabama running back looks like he will fit in perfectly with the current group. Scarbrough is another big bodied running back, who is a downhill powerful runner.

Although he never had outstanding production at Alabama, he does have some very encouraging physical traits, and seems like a perfect fit for the Cowboys offense.

Scarbrough will provide another option for Dallas in the running game, but stuck behind All-Pro Ezekiel Elliott and solid backup Rod Smith, don’t look for the rookie to get many touches unless an injury forces him into action in year one.

Prediction: 8 rushes, 32 yards, 0 touchdowns, 1 reception, 4 yards, 0 touchdowns.
