RB 2- Rod Smith 6’3 240 lbs

Rod Smith is one of the most interesting Cowboys players to watch in the 2018 season.

At this time last year, it was unsure if Smith would even be on the team in the upcoming season, fast forward a year to now, and it is pretty clear he will be the backup for Elliott in Dallas playing a pretty important role.

More from The Landry Hat

In 15 games he appeared in last season, Smith recorded 55 rushes for 232 yards, and four touchdowns. Smith also caught 19 passes for 202 yards and one touchdown as well. The Ohio State product is a versatile runner, which is something this Cowboys coaching staff loves.

As seen in the week 14 game against the New York Giants last season, Smith can be a big threat in the receiving game, scoring the touchdown that secured Dallas the win that day.

In 2018, look for the Cowboys to use Smith in a multitude of ways. I expect them to use him even more in the passing game, and also in goal line and third down situations.

Smith is a powerful runner, and after his production in 2017, look for him to get a solid number of touches as the Cowboys two back this year.

Prediction: 75 rushes, 330 yards, 3 touchdowns, 30 receptions, 230yards, 2 touchdowns.
