The NFL draft is over and the season inching closer. Let’s take an early look that the Dallas Cowboys roster and predict who will and won’t make the team.

The Dallas Cowboys have made a lot of changes to the roster in these past few months. Whether it be through the draft, trades, retirement, or cuts.

The Cowboys roster spots are up in the air even more than ever. So let’s take a look at each position in the early projection to see who will make the final cuts.

Offense

Quarterback: Dak Prescott, Cooper Rush, Mike White (3)

More from The Landry Hat

No real surprises here. Dak Prescott is the number one with Cooper Rush and Mike White battling throughout the year for the backup quarterback position. If Rush can continue what he did last year he will be able to keep the backup role.

White will make the roster right now because the Cowboys used a draft pick on him and see a quarterback they can develop. Not to mention Stephen Jones said he doesn’t see a problem with them having three quarterbacks on the 53 man roster.

Running Back & Full Back: Ezekiel Elliott, Rod Smith, Bo Scarbrough, Tavon Austin and Jamize Olawale (4)

Again no surprises here. Ezekiel Elliott is the number one with Rod Smith as the number two back in the group. Bo Scarbrough will make the team and have the opportunity to make some plays during games. He won’t see much playing time unless there is an injury to either Elliott or Smith.

Tavon Austin will make the team not as much for his play at the running back position but for his big-play ability in the return game. He could see just as much playing time as Scarbrough.

Jamize Olawale will be the team’s fullback with no real competition for him on the current roster. His ability to also run the ball and catch out of the backfield make him a valuable asset.
