The Dallas Cowboys used their final pick in the 2018 NFL Draft to select Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough in the seventh round.

The Dallas Cowboys waited until their final pick in the 2018 NFL Draft to address their need at running back. In doing so, they found a powerful runner from a powerhouse school.

With the 236th overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select …

NAME: Bo Scarbrough
POSITION: Running Back
SCHOOL: Alabama
HT/WT: 6-1, 228 pounds
AGE: 23-years old
2017 STATS: 596 rushing yards, 8 tds – 17 recs, 109 yards
PROS: Big frame, violent runner, toughness, punisher, downhill runner, one-cut
CONS: Runs tall, needs patience, worrisome injury history, long legs

ANALYSIS: Drawing obvious comparisons to Derrick Henry, Scarbrough was a powerful part-time rusher for the Crimson Tide. And he is the first player from Alabama to be drafted by the Cowboys during the Jason Garrett era, which is weird considering the close relationship between Dallas’ head coach and Alabama’s Nick Saban.

In Dallas, Scarbrough instantly becomes a goal-line specialist for the Cowboys. But he could struggle to find snaps behind Ezekiel Elliott and Rod Smith on the depth chart. Dallas’ trio of runners have a similar power aspect to their games.

Scarbrough does come with major injury concerns due to his violent running-style, but him landing in Dallas means he’ll only have spot duty in his rookie season. And playing behind arguably the best offensive line in the NFL, the 23-year old should have wide running lanes to run through, allowing him to punish second-level defenders on the regular.
