In case the Star wasn’t bright enough, former Dallas Cowboys player Drew Pearson cranked up the energy by a few notches. Here five things to expect in 2018.

The 2018 NFL Draft is two days away. Yes, that finally means the Dallas Cowboys can fill the void Dez Bryant left. Beyond that, however, is a new current in the NFL storm because of the NFL Draft’s hosting place: AT&T Stadium.

Sure, it’s an exciting time for the Dallas Cowboys and Cowboys Nation. The NFL world can gobble up a piece of “Jerry’s World,” and even stop by The Star in Frisco. Whether you’re a Cowboys fan or not, football fans are familiar with this formula: America’s Team = Dallas Cowboys.

Now, 31 other teams are invited to sample a taste of that formula.

The electricity and drama in this year’s NFL Draft is must-see television. Get your popcorn ready. Here are five things to expect in the 2018 NFL Draft held in Dallas.

1. Dez Bryant replacement

The best way to move on from an ex is to start dating, right? Well, the Cowboys need a weapon to patch an open hole at the receiver position.

In case you’re wondering where I stand on the current receiver core, let me tell you. The Boys have a great weaponry for quarterback Dak Prescott, but not a clear number one person.

The Cowboys may have lost out on the Sammy Watkins sweepstakes, but Dallas gets another swing in the form of the 19th overall pick.

Do the Cowboys go after Calvin Ridley, D.J. Moore or even Courtland Sutton?

You know what, Drew Pearson better roll out there to announce the pick. The Cowboys need to bridge the “88” jersey, and who else is better than Pearson to get the job done?

2. Revenge of the Eagles

Oh. Boy. Here comes the drama.

The Dallas Cowboys and the rest of the NFC East have given the Eagles a bad time over the years. But this year, of course, is a bit different.

Since beating the New England Patriots, 41-33 last February, the NFC East landscape has changed.

Drew Pearson’s taunt last year doesn’t hold the same weight. Will the former wide-out make some new noise? Perhaps. Expect the Eagles to hold their own party, letting the NFL world (especially the Dallas Cowboys) know who the current champs are.

I’d expect the undercurrent in the NFL Draft will pit the Cowboys and Eagles against one another. This will almost be like the first game between the two teams. And the winner will be the team who has the better draft roster.

Or, you know, whoever can top Drew Pearson’s taunt.

3. Eye of the storm

With the 2018 NFL Draft held in Dallas, expect the world to hold their breath at the 19th overall pick. In a way, you get the feeling the energy may come across as the first overall pick!

Look, the Cowboys got a lot of needs and the 19th spot can change the DNA within the Cowboys. Add in number one and two from above, and you got a recipe for excellent drama.

For what it’s worth, I don’t see the Cowboys jumping up. Despite owning 10 picks, Dallas holds the cards tight and grab some quality players over the three days.

Will the Cowboys draft an offensive lineman to anchor the best offensive line in football? Does Ezekiel Elliott get protection or does Dak Prescott get a team friendly wide receiver?

Now that Byron Jones is returning to the cornerback spot, safety is an immediate need. And let’s not forget the linebackers room either.

4. Drew Pearson catches another Hail Mary

Folks, we really can’t expect the NFL Draft to pass by without a Pearson appearance, can we? I’m just waiting for Pearson to wear some WWE war paint and fall from the AT&T rafters.

Okay. Fine. I’m being a little dramatic.

But it’s the NFL Draft!

The former “88” stole the 2017 NFL Draft. He was the soul in the draft, serving as the energetic spokesman for the Dallas Cowboys. Expect a sequel coming to a theater near you. After all, the fans want one!

He’s the hero Dallas deserves.

5. America’s Team mantra gets a reboot

Sure, the Eagles won their first Super Bowl. Congratulations. The win only took an eternity to happen, but okay.

With the 2018 NFL Draft held in Dallas, I think this is a great time to remind everyone why the Cowboys own the tagline — America’s Team.

Hate will fill AT&T Stadium. Arlington, Texas will gobble up the energy of love and hate, and in the end, it will only reinforce the Cowboys as America’s Team. This is the battleground where the Cowboys face off against 31 NFL teams all at once.

Let’s face it, nobody hates or loves the Chicago Bears the same way they do with the Cowboys. Now, the draft is in the city of Big D. Enjoy the love and hate. There will be plenty of both from April 26th to 28th.
