Dallas Cowboys: 5 potential destinations for Dez Bryant
By Tim Kohut
The Dallas Cowboys just released their polarizing, yet underachieving wide receiver, Dez Brant. Let’s look at what teams could potentially sign the Cowboys all-time touchdown receptions leader.
The Dallas Cowboys made the difficult decision to release wideout Dez Bryant, after eight seasons with the club. He might not be the same receiver he was when he signed a 5-year $70 million pact, but he still has some gas left in the tank at just 29 years of age. Here are some possible destinations that make sense for the former Dallas Cowboy.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are known for taken fliers on veteran, recently released wide receivers. They did it with guys like Anquan Boldin and Mike Wallace, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they decided to go with another past-his-prime pass catcher in Bryant.
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers released veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson at the beginning of free agency, and haven’t signed a viable replacement yet. Could Aaron Rodgers help re-kindle Dez Bryant’s best attributes as a receiver?
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions have a couple of solid receivers in Marvin Jones Jr. and Golden Tate. However, they haven’t had a big possession receiver since Calvin Johnson retires. Could Dez Bryant step in and catch balls from one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the league in Matthew Stafford?
Washington Redskins
The Washington Redskins have shown little interest in the few hours Dez has been a free agent, but could things change on that front? Terrelle Pryor was a huge flop for them last season, and they’re banking on Josh Doctson to take a big step up this season.
But Doctson hasn’t shown much consistency so far, so could Bryant potentially be an option? His desire to remain in the NFC East is well-chronicled (by him) so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he latched on to one of the Cowboys’ biggest rivals.

New Orleans Saints
Drew Brees, although in the twilight of his career, still has a knack for making his receivers better players. Bryant hasn’t been the same quarterback since he had Tony Romo throwing to him– another guy who knew how to best utilize his receivers talents. Bryant in a Sean Payton offense makes sense in so many ways.
