Round 2 Pick 50: Josey Jewell LB Iowa

With their second pick in the second round, the Cowboys decide to upgrade the linebacker position, and select Josey Jewell out of Iowa. The linebacker is a tackling machine, who has great instincts and is always around the ball.

Jewell would be a perfect replacement to step in and fill the void left by Anthony Hitchens departure, and a linebacking core of Lee, Smith, and Jewell would be a very solid group. Although it may seem like a bit of a reach, after giving up their third round pick in the trade with Miami, the Cowboys make sure they get a linebacker in the top 100 picks, and go with Jewell.

Round 4 Pick 116: Quin Blanding S Virginia

With the rumored move of Byron Jones back to corner, the Cowboys are thin at the safety position. In the fourth round they get a good value pick, selecting Quin Blanding out of Virginia.

Blanding is a big safety who plays with outstanding effort, and could step in and immediately contribute on the Dallas defense.

Round 4 Pick 137: Dalton Schultz TE Stanford

At some point Jason Witten is going to hang it up, and in round four the Cowboys draft his possible heir apparent. Dalton Schultz is a solid run blocking tight end, who can hopefully be a cheaper, younger version of James Hanna for the Cowboys
