Dallas Cowboys 2018 NFL Draft: Post-Free Agency 7-round mock
By Tyrone Starr
With the 192nd pick in round seven, the Dallas Cowboys select …
Godwin Igwebuike, S, Northwestern University
After using their lone fifth round pick to move up in round four, the Cowboys go back-to-back in round six. With picks 192 & 193, Dallas nabs some defensive/special teams candidates starting with Igwebuike.
Igwebuike would be a steal this late as he plays with both speed and power. He ran a 4.44-forty at the combine but his build and style equate best as a strong safety. His ability to be play in the nickel near the line of scrimmage is all the rage in today’s NFL. Putting him in man-to-man positions, however would be a disservice to him at this point of his career.
With the 193rd pick in round seven, the Dallas Cowboys select …
Christian Sam, LB, Arizona State
As for Sam, his game tape is more impressive than his physical attributes. When you watch his film, you seem around the ball a lot making stop after stop. The numbers support this as he posted 127 tackles, 9.5 for loss and three sacks in 2017. His actual combine time was unimpressive, however, as were his other testing numbers. This is most likely why he is available at this spot.

Arrion Springs, CB, Oregon
With the Cowboys last pick in the draft, I have them taking a flier on a cornerback. After releasing Orlando Scandrick, it doesn’t hurt. Springs has lined up both inside and outside and registered a high number of pass breakups (42) throughout his career.
He does has the size Dallas usually covets (5’11”, 205 lbs.) but he isn’t especially fast, however. While he was involved in a lot of pass breakups, he only had two interceptions which is a bit bothersome as well. All in all, it’s a intriguing option this late in the draft.
