It looks like it was a catch after all. And has Orlando Scandrick played his last game in Big D? Those topics and more in today’s Dallas Cowboys’ headlines!

The Dallas Cowboys are in the thick of the offseason. With many of the brass and coaching staff currently at the NFL Scouting Combine, evaluating this year’s class of college football prospects, they are also attending to some other business as well.

The Combine is an unusual event that brings together all 32 teams together in one place for nearly a week. Not only are clubs meeting together to talk shop and discuss possible trades, but they are also trying to lock down their own free agents as well.

For the Cowboys, that means trying to get long-term deals done for players like defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence and guard Zack Martin. While all that’s happening in Indy, the outside world is still swirling with headlines involving America’s Team. Here are five of the best:

Committee says Bryant ’14 playoff play should be a catch in the future – ESPN.com

Like most fans, I have no idea what constitutes a catch anymore in the NFL. But it appears that the league is getting closer and closer to a definition everyone can agree on. The first step is the NFL’s competition committee rewriting the rules that would make Dez Bryant’s controversial “no catch” in the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers in 2014 “a catch”. It appears they have. Now the rule change will go before the owners at league meetings. It’s about time.

Orlando Scandrick likely on his way out of Dallas – Pro Football Talk

Clearly, Orlando Scandrick is in danger of being traded or released this offseason. Although many, including myself, thought he had played his last year in Dallas following the 2016 season. But Scandrick is about to turn 32-years old, he’s the third highest paid defender in Dallas, he’s coming off another disappointing season and the Cowboys’ roster is chock full of young defensive backs. The writing is on the wall.

Finding Byron Jones’ Best Position Is Cowboys’ Biggest Piece Of The DB Puzzle – DallasCowboys.com

One of the reasons Scandrick could be gone soon is Byron Jones. If the Cowboys decide to shift the safety to cornerback, the logjam at the position could force Dallas to trade or release Orlando. The next question would be, who starts at safety besides Jeff Heath if a move is made?

Former LSU star Marcus Spears on 100-pound weight-loss quest – TheAdvocate.com

What ever happens to these huge 300+ pound defensive lineman once their NFL careers are over? Like the rest of us, age plus that kind of weight can be an early death sentence. So, losing that weight is critical for enjoying a long, healthy life. And now former Cowboys first round pick, Marcus Spears, is documenting that journey above.

Cowboys not counting on Randy Gregory for 2018 – ESPN.com

Don’t look to the Cowboys if you are wanting an update on former 2015 second round pick defensive end Randy Gregory. They are not even allowed to talk to him. The former Nebraska star has been suspended for over a year now due to repeated violations of the league’s substance abuse policy and has reportedly been battling drug addiction. It’s believe Gregory will apply for reinstatement soon, but the Cowboys are not making any plans with the idea he’ll be part of the team in 2018.
