We continue our Dallas Cowboys draft profiles today as we look at a 2017 turnover machine, Iowa cornerback Joshua Jackson.

Today we continue our draft profiles, looking at one of the most interesting prospects in this year’s draft. Joshua Jackson is a 21-year old 6″1, 192 lb cornerback from the University of Iowa.

In his 2017 Junior season at Iowa, Jackson tailed 48 total tackles, 34 of them solo, 27 passes defended and eight interceptions in 14 games. Two of those picks were returned for touchdowns.

Jackson was named a Consensus All-American, leading the NCAA in interceptions and leading the Big Ten in interception return yards.

The 21-year old’s huge year came out of nowhere, as before 2017, Jackson had not recorded a college interception and had only played in 16 games. With his eight interception year, he quickly burst onto the scene as a potential first round draft pick.

Jackson’s biggest strength is his ball hawking ability, shown by his 27 passes defended and eight interceptions. He is a long bodied corner, and plays the ball very well.

Another big strength for Jackson is he played great against his best competition. In Iowa’s big upset win over Ohio State, Jackson recorded three interceptions, leading the Hawkeyes to the upset win.

Some possible weakness for Jackson are his inexperience, and his lack off top notch speed. With only one year of outstanding production in college, there are questions of Jackson can repeat this performance consistently on the NFL level.

For the Dallas Cowboys, Joshua Jackson could be the turnover creating cornerback they have been searching for years for.

In 2017, the Cowboys secondary recorded only nine interceptions total, a number that is far too low if they want to be a high level defense. Jackson would instantly help Dallas corners create more turnovers, and could be a key piece to making the defense top tier.

If Jackson can bring his turnover creating ability to the NFL, he could be a perfect fit for the Dallas Cowboys.
