It appears that several of the Dallas Cowboys’ roster needs are at positions many consider to be very deep in the 2018 NFL Draft class.

Going into the offseason, the Dallas Cowboys three biggest positional needs appeared to be at wide receiver, defensive tackle and along their offensive line. Two out of those three positions look to be very deep in the upcoming NFL draft.

That’s potentially awesome news for the Cowboys, who are expecting the maximum allowable compensatory picks to be awarded to them in March due to heavy free agency losses they suffered in early 2017. Dallas should find themselves with a slew of additional picks, allowing them to address several team needs at once.

According to one Cowboys insider, the 2018 NFL Draft is looking very deep at some key positions that Dallas must address this offseason.

"“Deep positions [in the 2018 NFL Draft]: Running back, wide receiver, defensive tackle (one technique), tight end and cornerback,” responded Bryan Broaddus to a recent mailbag question on DallasCowboys.com. “I like what you can get from these groups throughout the draft no matter where you select.”"

Outside of wide receiver and defensive tackle, depth at running back and tight end also have to be considerations in Dallas. But the one area this Cowboys team must address that is not mentioned is offensive line. With Jonathan Cooper currently a free agent, Dallas could be in need for a starting left guard right out of the gate. And because of the apparent lack of depth at that position in the draft, the Cowboys could try to find themselves one in the early rounds.

Dallas could also look to address concerns at linebacker very early on as well. Especially if they are unable to re-sign free agent Anthony Hitchens in the coming weeks. Considering the injury issues between veteran Sean Lee and Jaylon Smith, finding a talented, young linebacker who can start if need be could suddenly become critical. And as linebacker isn’t one of the positions Broaddus listed, the Cowboys may have to go after one within the first three rounds of the upcoming draft.

Positions like defensive tackle, wide receiver, tight end and running back appear to be very deep within this upcoming draft class. Therefore, their importance on the Dallas Cowboys’ draft board may decrease slightly due to the limited talent available at other key positions of need.
