With the Philadelphia Eagles set to face the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, which team should Dallas Cowboys fans cheer for?

I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to get excited about the Super Bowl if the Dallas Cowboys aren’t involved. So, as you can imagine, this time of year has been pretty quiet for me and many other Cowboy fans since 1995.

But this year’s matchup is a particular difficult one for me. As a Dallas fan, I can certainly appreciate a dynasty. It’s often the memory of those early 90’s Cowboys teams that keep my hopes up at the end of disappointing season after disappoint season in Dallas. But the fact that the Patroits of been able to sustain such a long run on top of the football mountain is both impressive and annoying.

Another Super Bowl victory in New England seems redundant at this point, doesn’t it? I mean honestly, this is getting ridiculous. What happen to parity in the NFL? Patroits’ head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady are already first ballot Hall of Famers. What more could they gain by winning another Super Bowl? It just makes it so hard to root for them.

On the other hand, you have the Philadelphia Eagles. As a die-hard Cowboys fan I refuse to root for Philly in any sport, but most importantly football. And I’m sure die-hard Eagles fans feel the same way about the Cowboys. These two teams have been heated rivals for as long as I can remember. Probably before they were even in existence. And despite the fact both franchises have had their struggles, the disdain for each other continues to rise regardless of record.

I’m sorry, but my love for the Cowboys will not allow me to root for the Eagles under any circumstance. But if there was one possible loophole that might allow a Dallas fan to cheer for Philadelphia in the Super Bowl, it’s the fact I believe the Cowboys can bet the Eagles. And if Philly wins a ring, it also means that Dallas is one step closer to doing it themselves.

So which team should fans cheer for? My vote: Neither.

In the end, I will not be watching the Super Bowl this Sunday. Regardless if the New England Patroits win or the Philadelphia Eagles do, the Dallas Cowboys still lose. And until America’s Team gets back to the big game themselves, I’ll have to be content sidelining myself, once again missing out on the biggest spectacle in American sports.
