Dallas Cowboys 2018 Positional Breakdown: Offensive Line
The Dallas Cowboys have one of the most dominate positional groups in the NFL. Their offensive line. But this group has their issues as well.
When football fans talk about the current version of the Dallas Cowboys, the uber-talented offensive line is often referred to as one of the main reasons for their success. So, is it any wonder that three of their five starters are perennial Pro Bowlers.
The Cowboys invested three first round selections in drafts between 2011-2014 in offensive lineman. And all three hit, big time! Left tackle Tyron Smith, center Travis Frederick and right guard Zack Martin are among the very best at what they do. But that doesn’t mean this O-line doesn’t have some issues to iron out this offseason.
Let’s take a look at this awesome positional group, breakdown their current depth chart and the potential issues which could arise in 2018.

Breakdown
The biggest offseason issue the Cowboys face is who will start at left guard. Both Jonathan Cooper and Byron Bell are currently free agents. That leaves former third round selection Chaz Green penciled in at starter. But Green has already proven he is far too inconsistent and injury-prone for a starting role.
On top of finding themselves a starting guard, the Cowboys also desperately need a reliable swing tackle. When Tyron Smith was injured last season, Dallas did not have adequate depth to replace him. That cost the Cowboys victories last year and must be addressed this offseason.
Finally, it is expected that Zack Martin will get a contract extension soon. And that is vital to the Cowboys future as Martin might just be the most talented player on the entire roster.
Next: Why defensive line is the top priority in Dallas
As for the Dallas Cowboys issues, I believe this front office will re-sign either Cooper or Bell to help provide them with some insurance at the left guard position. Then look for the Cowboys to sign a value free agent as well as draft an offensive lineman or two for depth and to develop for the future.
