Dallas Cowboys fans unite! Fandom 250 list released
FanSided’s Fandom 250 list, which grades fan bases across all forms of entertainment, was just released. Where do Dallas Cowboys fans fall?
The Dallas Cowboys fan base is the greatest in the world, bar none. The Cowboys dominate TV ratings when they play, jersey sales and game attendance. There is no other NFL team even close to their numbers. And the fact this continues to happen year in and year out, despite the team not having won a Super Bowl since 1995, is a testament to their fans and their loyalty.
But just how popular are the Cowboys? According to SportsMediaWatch.com, through Week 13 of the NFL regular season, Dallas has been the most watch NFL game of the week a whopping nine times!
It can be argued that when the Cowboys play, they are the number one show on television. According to Thisisinsider.com, the top show on TV right now is HBO’s Game of Thrones with an average viewership of 11.28 million. The Cowboys game against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12 brought in an audience of 26.28 million.
So, it’s clear that the Cowboys are the most popular NFL team. And that the NFL is the most watched show on television. So wouldn’t it make sense that the team who rules the airwaves and the league has the best fandom in all of entertainment?
According to FanSided, the answer is no. In their recent Fandom 250 list, they rated the Dallas Cowboys fan base as the 13th best in all of sports/entertainment/brands. And that’s down a whopping eight spots from their ranking just last year!
So why are the Cowboys rated so low in 2017?
"“One of the biggest criticisms of the Cowboys fanbase is that it’s full of bandwagoners, but the team’s well-chronicled lack of playoff success since their Super Bowl run in the ’90s hasn’t deterred anyone from jumping on board.” – FanSided Fandom 250"

I’m not sure I buy bandwagoners as a reason to knock the Cowboys fanbase. I believe gaining fans despite the fact the team has won only two playoff games in 20 years should actually boost their ranking on the list, not drop it.
I’m sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree with this year’s low ranking. The Cowboys are undoubtedly the most popular team in the NFL. And their fans are the most loyal and optimistic of any team I’ve ever covered.
The Cowboys dominate the TV ratings. Three of the top eight highest selling jerseys are Dak Prescott (2), Ezekiel Elliott (5) and Jason Witten (8). According to the list itself, Dallas averages over 92,000 fans per game at AT&T Stadium, which is the highest home attendance in the league. And Cowboy fans regularly flood away games as well.
What more proof could you want? The Dallas Cowboys fan base is the greatest in the world, bar none.
