Dallas Cowboys: The Eagles, the Chargers and Terry Glenn
Coming off another bad game, the Dallas Cowboys, now 5-5, must win on Thanksgiving to against the Los Angeles Chargers. Can Big D save their season?
Before we begin, let’s take a moment to remember wide receiver Terry Glenn. As you know, his life was cut way too short at 43.
Glenn, a former-first rounder out of Ohio State, died yesterday in Irving, Dallas. He played for the Dallas Cowboys from 2003 to 2006. In his four seasons in Dallas, he played 53 games and caught 208 balls.
He had two seasons over 1,000 yards receiving. As a Cowboy, he caught 20 touchdown passes.
If you and your loved ones are sending thoughts and prayers to his family, I am with you on that. Once a Cowboy, always with the Dallas Cowboys.
The Eagle has Landed
Hey, I was realistic about the Cowboys playing against the Philadelphia Eagles. Things weren’t tilted in our favor, but I still hoped for a competitive fight, maybe some signs of the 2016 magic.
Of course, as you know, nothing but disappointment in the end. Unfortunately, the Dallas Cowboys don’t have any time to lick their wounds. This isn’t a time to feel sorry for anybody.
The Cowboys and the Los Angeles Chargers are set to play in just two days. Yes, for the Cowboys, it’s officially playoffs time.
Why?
The Charged Chargers
Well, not to worry you but the Chargers just blew out the Buffalo Bills, 54-24. Sure, the Bills had a new quarterback in who tossed interceptions left and right. But keep in mind, the Chargers are two games behind the division leading Kansas City Chiefs (6-4).
The Chargers, currently tied with the Oakland Raiders at 4-6, are still in the playoff hunt. And, fortunately for the Cowboys, Dallas is still in the hunt, though looking from the outside.
The Seahawks, at 6-3, own the sixth spot in the NFC. The Cowboys and Seahawks do battle on December 24th, which is Ezekiel Elliott‘s first game back.
The Chargers, who started the season 0-4, lost some heart breakers. This isn’t a 4-6 team, and the Cowboys need to be at their best to keep their playoff hopes alive.
If you take out the Chargers’ third game, the team lost three games with a combined seven points. One of those teams includes the Philadelphia Eagles, who the Chargers lost to by just two points in week four.
The Chargers held their own at New England in week eight, losing to the Patriots 21-13.
A Rivers runs through it
Quarterback Philip Rivers, who at 35, is having a good season. He is completing 60 percent of his passes, has thrown 17 touchdowns to seven interceptions. He has a quarterback rating of 89.6.
Can the Cowboys toss aside the Chargers? It’s possible. But my gut feeling is saying to hold the turkey for this Thanksgiving match.
Wouldn’t want you throw anything up on your loved ones. See, I’m thoughtful, right?
The Losing Star
The Dallas Cowboys are quick to issue prescriptions after big defeats, but do little to actually take their meds.
Yes, half-time adjustments are a problem. I’d also say, before the game starts, the blueprint is a problem. The Boys know they are down some men, (see Sean Lee, Tyron Smith, Ezekiel Elliott), but still cannot compensate for the holes.
Let’s not write in some excuses about injuries or how the NFL is too harsh with their suspension rules. Let’s face it: Other teams, other coaches and players, all deal with injuries and suspensions.
This is football.
The difference is the Cowboys are unable to deploy a suitable patch. You can blame Dak Prescott for not being Tony Romo. You can blame the coaching, Jason Garrett and his weird insistence to keep clapping, but remember, the Chargers are coming.

The Cowboys, at 5-5, still have a shot to play in the end when it truly matters. After a 37-9 beating, things look lights out for the Boys.
But there are still six games to go. There’s no time to think about yesterday, because playoff time is truly upon us.
