Brice Butler, Wide Receiver

When you are only targeted twice in a game, you better make the most of your opportunities. Unfortunately, the Jekyll and Hyde nature of Brice Butler’s game in Dallas continues to show it’s ugly head.

On one hand, Butler is both a vertical and red zone threat, possessing sub 4.4 speed in a 6-foot-3, 220 pound frame. On the other hand, the fifth-year pro continues to struggle with inconsistent play and drops. It’s the reason many believe Butler was on the roster bubble prior to training camp.

But the 27-year old receiver exceeded expectations during camp and in the preseason, outright winning his spot on the Cowboys’ active roster.

On Sunday, Butler dropped a pass on a critical third down that could have extended the Cowboys drive in a game were Dallas needed a spark to light their offense. It was another in a long-line of drops Brice has made since being traded to Dallas by the Oakland Raiders in 2015.

Brice Butler has the physical tools to wreck this league. And he has made some incredible catches during his time with the Cowboys. Unfortunately, inconsistency will likely limit his NFL career.
