Despite tweaking his ankle during the win over the Giants, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams is expected to play against the Denver Broncos.

Although the Dallas Cowboys Week One victory over the New York Giants had much to do with Dallas’ ability to run the ball, a surprising wide receiver also had a big day for the Cowboys.

Fifth-year receiver Terrance Williams caught six of his seven targets against the Giants last Sunday, racking up a game-leading 66 yards through the air. Williams was also clutch on third down, converting three of them into first downs for Dallas in the first half of that divisional matchup.

There were two plays in particular where the former third round selection out of Baylor shined in Week One. Late in the first quarter, Williams converted a 3rd & 12 on the edge of field goal range off of a 15-yard scamper on a bubble screen.

In the second quarter, Williams struck again for a big play on third down. This time, second-year quarterback Dak Prescott found the 28-year old receiver in the middle of the field on a short pass that Terrance converting a 3rd & 6 into a 23-yard gain.

It was an impressive game for Williams, who was only targeted once in the second half. But he did injury his ankle early in the contest and played through it.

Preparing to take on the Denver Broncos this weekend, Williams landed on the Cowboys’ injury report due to tweaking his ankle. The veteran wide receiver did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. And Williams was limited on Friday. He was listed as questionable for the game against the Broncos this weekend.

But according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Williams is now expected to play in Denver on Sunday afternoon. And that’s good news for the Cowboys, as Terrance is not only a clutch receiver, but an excellent blocker at his position, making him invaluable to Dallas’ success running the ball.

Also on the Dallas Cowboys injury report were starting safety Byron Jones, who is dealing with a groin injury, and rookie cornerback Chidobe Awuzie due to his ankle. Jones was limited at practice both Thursday and Friday and is questionable against Denver. Awuize was a full participate all week in practice and should be available for the game. Veteran corner Orlando Scandrick has already been ruled out against the Broncos due to a hand injury.
