We give you the details you need to know in order to get ready for the Dallas Cowboys regular season opener, against the New York Giants.

The Dallas Cowboys will kick off their 2017 NFL regular season this Sunday night against their NFC East divisional rivals, the New York Giants. It’s a quality first matchup for Dallas as the Giants are the only team to beat the Cowboys in both of their meetings last season.

The Cowboys’ revamped secondary will face an upgraded Giants’ passing offense that added veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall and rookie tight end Evan Engram to the mix. But New York’s defense will face a mighty challenge as well as the NFL’s leading rusher from last season, Cowboys’ second-year running back Ezekiel Elliott will play in the game despite a lingering six-game suspension.

Sunday night’s opener will also be the debut for many of the Cowboys young stars. But the two many will be watching for in great anticipation is rookie wide receiver/punt returner Ryan Switzer and linebacker Jaylon Smith.

Switzer, Dallas’ fourth round selection out of North Carolina, is a Cole Beasley-clone who possess electrifying returner abilities. He was unable to play in the preseason due to a hamstring injury but should make his debut against the Giants.

Jaylon Smith made his preseason debut to much fanfare. But his growth in the past couple months will be put to the test against the G-Men, as starting middle linebacker Anthony Hitchens is sidelined with a knee injury. Expect the second-year phenom to split snaps with veteran linebacker Justin Durant, but Smith should also see significant playing time in his regular season debut.
