The Dallas Cowboys entered into their third preseason game with a 1-1 record, posting a victory over the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame game and losing to the Los Angeles Rams last weekend.

The Cowboys returned home from training camp in Oxnard, California last week to face the 0-1 Indianapolis Colts at AT&T Stadium on Saturday night. Dallas has now wrapped up their time on the west coast and will spend the remainder of camp at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

Typically, the third preseason game features the starters for at least a quarter and even up to a half. But this isn’t a typical exhibition season for the Cowboys, as the Hall of Fame game added an extra preseason contest to their schedule.

Therefore, the Cowboys coaching staff treated the matchup against the Colts like their second preseason contest. So starters like quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver Dez Bryant and tight end Jason Witten only saw action for two offensive series. And starting running back Ezekiel Elliott didn’t even see the field, as he was a healthy scratch in this game.

That allowed some of the Cowboys younger players to get some valuable playing time. The biggest example being first round rookie defensive end Taco Charlton, who was still on the field through the end of the third quarter.

In the end, the Cowboys came away victorious in the matchup against the Colts, 24-19. And here are nine Dallas players whom I believe deserve recognition for their excellent play during this game…
