The Dallas Cowboys have officially completed their 2017 training camp. They are currently on their way back home and will play the Indianapolis Colts this Saturday.

There is excitement in the air, as it’ll be the first time we see the starters play this preseason. While these three Cowboys aren’t necessarily stars, they’ll be seeing their first game action of the year in critical positions.

Chaz Green – Left Guard

If it weren’t for Chaz Green’s constant injuries he’d have won the starting left guard spot by now. From all reports, he’s been the best of the group competing for the job, which includes Jonathan Cooper and Byron Bell. However, Green suffered a shoulder strain and was held out of the first two preseason games.

Green returned to practice late last week, before the Rams game, and took first team reps. He’s practiced all week and is expected to play Saturday vs the Colts.

The areas to pay attention to are Green’s run-blocking and if he can avoid penalties. His fellow left-guards have struggled in these areas, in the first two preseason games. Cooper struggled with letting defensive tackles cross his face while zone blocking against the Cardinals. Bell got flagged twice for holding against the Rams.

Furthermore, Green will get some reps as the backup left tackle. He can drastically improve his value to the team, by playing well and showing his versatility. As a player who’s injury prone, Green needs to separate himself in other areas. The best way to do that is prove he can play multiple spots along the line.
