We give you the details you need to know in order to get ready for the Dallas Cowboys first preseason contest, the Hall of Fame game, against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fans of the Dallas Cowboys get an early treat this year. Instead of four preseason games, the Cowboys will play five. And it starts this Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

The Cowboys will face the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame game, which is played annually prior to the ceremony to inducted new members into the Hall. This year, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones will become a Hall of Famer on Saturday.

Being the first preseason game of the year for both teams, don’t expect to see many starters participate in the game. In fact, Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has already announced that none of his starting players will play in the matchup.

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett wasn’t as forthcoming, but you’ll likely not see stars like quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott, wide receiver Dez Bryant, tight end Jason Witten or linebacker Sean Lee in this first preseason contest.

Without many starters, if any, playing in this game the spotlight shifts to roster bubble players, unknowns and rookies, giving each an opportunity to shine in front of a national audience.

On the Cowboys side of the ball, names like defensive end Taco Charlton and Charles Tapper, linebacker Jaylon Smith, cornerbacks Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis, running back Rod Smith, wide receiver Noah Brown and left guard Jonathan Cooper are just some to watch for Thursday night.
