STRONG SAFETY (Winner: Heath)

Nothing in my football DNA is okay with Jeff Heath as the starting strong safety.

No argument can persuade he’s the second most talented safety on this roster.

He’s not, and coaches and fans will learn the hard way when his snap count is strongly increased like his mediocre past.

Either rookie Chidobe Awuzie or Xavier Woods will outplay him during camp.

However, 2014 training camp tells me all I need to know on this battle. Ask Sterling Moore if outplaying the staff’s pet cat (B.W. Webb) is enough to take his spot.

Like Webb in 2014, Heath will cost us on Sundays in an expanded role. Eventually coaches will wise up and give the more impressive rookie a lion’s share of snaps.

Next: Five free agents the Dallas Cowboys could sign

But for Week One the coaches will opt for experience over raw talent at safety.

The position will be shared so they’ll feel justified trotting out their version of Rudy in an effort to minimize costly rookie mistakes.
