The Dallas Cowboys may need to expand their depth at the running back position when training camp begins. The team should have plenty of options in 2017.

There have been rumors that the Dallas Cowboys’ running back Ezekiel Elliott could face some form of discipline from the NFL for months now, whether it be a fine or a suspension, based upon the pending results of the league’s investigation into an alleged domestic violence incident involving the Cowboys’ star.

Elliott had a huge year on the field for the Cowboys as he had one of the best rookie seasons for a running back in NFL history. The team would certainly like to see an encore performance from Zeke, without interruption or distraction, if possible..

The Cowboys will rely heavily on Elliott for the 2017 campaign and beyond. Rumors surrounding a looming suspension for the second-year back have some Cowboys’ fans concerned, but it seemingly is all just speculation at this point.

The assertion that any pending action will be taken is fruitless at this point. However, since fantasy football season is drawing near, top players (such as Elliott) will be discussed and debated more frequently. Especially their availability.

A good example is Pittsburgh Steelers’ star running back Le’Veon Bell, who could easily be labeled a risky first round fantasy option because of his propensity to get injured or suspended.

These concerns are purely from a fantasy football perspective as there is no evidence that Elliott or Bell has any league discipline coming their way. The league has let the investigation into Zeke drag on for far too long and seemingly for reasons unknown.

The Cowboys believe in Elliott’s innocence and are depending on him to have another stellar season as the team looks to make the playoffs for the second year in a row. Naturally, it is important to look at the depth behind Elliott as he will need some capable and productive players to come in and relieve him.

So, let’s look at some options…
