The Dallas Cowboys have one round of Organized Team Activities in the books.  The next is ready to go starting today through Thursday.

It’s not quite yet the time to get excited about football, however football things are happening.

So, while we wait for the first preseason game, sixty-six days from now, let’s play the role of prognosticator and offer up five bold predictions for the upcoming season.

When I say the term “bold,” I do not mean unreasonable.  Not only could these things all happen realistically, I believe there is a very good chance that they will happen.

So, without further ado, let’s start with our first bold prediction…

BOLD PREDICTION #1

Jaylon Smith will play in at least thirteen regular season games.

Everything Smith has been doing since a January 2016 surgery to repair torn ACL and MCL ligaments in his left knee has been focusing on this moment.

You always hear that it’s a privilege and not a right to play for the Dallas Cowboys.  Well, Smith has earned that privilege about as much as anyone could.  Seventeen months of intense rehab and workouts has Smith looking freakishly huge.

He also used the time off to learn the defense in its entirety and recognize what the Cowboys try to do from a scheme stand point.

Now it’s just time to transfer that health and knowledge onto the field.  While the Dallas Cowboys will be cautious with him in the offseason, there is no indication that he will be limited once the season is upon us.

Whether or not it is with or without a brace will make no difference.  Smith will be available in 2017.  80% of what he was in college makes him a long-time solid NFL starter.

That journey starts this year when he suits up in at least thirteen games for the Dallas Cowboys.
