Offensive linemen: 8

Projected starters: Tyron Smith (LT), Jonathon Cooper (LG), Travis Frederick (C), Zack Martin (RG), La’el Collins (RT)

Projected backups: Byron Bell (G, T), Chaz Green (T), Joe Looney (G)

Potential practice squad player: Dan Skipper (T)

Everyone knows about the three All-Pro offensive linemen up front for the Cowboys- Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and Zack Martin.

Cooper was a first round draft pick that has yet to show his natural movement and power at the pro level like he did in college at North Carolina. He has an opportunity to work with a smart, hardworking, and physical group that will keep him motivated and he could flourish at left guard.

La’el Collins has shown glimpses of freakish ability to destroy defenders in run blocking and has the foot quickness to become a road grader at the second level. I think that he will be very successful and is a talent upgrade at right tackle compared to the retired former starter, Doug Free.

Byron Bell is a giant human being that has started a lot of NFL games. He has played very well when he gets the chance to start and is versatile in being able to play guard and tackle which is valuable.

Chaz Green was drafted to be the team’s future right tackle but he has been snake bitten by injuries during his two seasons in Dallas. If he is healthy he could make a case for earning the starting right tackle job which would move Collins back to left guard.

Joe Looney is a powerful interior lineman that is a solid run blocker and can be used in jumbo formations. He will likely be inactive for a few games but I still think he makes the 53-man roster.

Dan Skipper is almost seven feet tall and is a mammoth undrafted rookie out of Arkansas. He has some natural movement skills for a player of his size so he could be a nice developmental project on the practice squad.
