Are the Dallas Cowboys one elite receiver away from a Super Bowl?
By Ray Valverde
Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers
First, How weird does that feel reading that? “Los Angeles Chargers”
Now, back to why Keenan Allen? Obviously another extremely talented receiver, but he also has had injuries the past couple of seasons. Last year missing 15 and a half games after injuring his knee in the first half of the season opener. In the 2015 season only playing the first eight games of the season due to a kidney injury.
The Chargers may have not completely given up on Allen, but with their first pick in the 2017 draft they selected wide receiver Mike Williams of Clemson. Los Angeles could be covering their basis, but using a first round pick on a receiver is not great news for current receivers on the roster. Ask former Dallas receiver Roy Williams after drafting Dez Bryant.
Through four seasons Allen has 221 receptions, 2617 yards and 16 touchdowns. During the same stretch Terrance Williams has 177 receptions, 2791 yards and 20 touchdowns. But let’s not forget Allen has basically missed the past year and a half due to injury yet still managed to have nearly the same exact stats as the Cowboys’ Williams.
Allen may not be on the trading block but with Mike Williams now on the roster anything is possible. Los Angeles could be ready to move on from the injury plagued receiver for the right price, which shouldn’t be too hefty, considering the receiver’s injury history.

Either Sammy Watkins or Keenan Allen would be great additions for the Cowboys and both scenarios could easily be a reality. The Dallas Cowboys offense would create nightmares for opposing defenses in the NFC East and throughout the NFL if they were able to add Allen or Watkins to pair with Dez Bryant.
