Philadelphia Eagles

1 (14) Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee
2 (43) Sidney Jones, CB, Washington
3 (99) Rasul Douglas, CB, West Virginia
4 (118) Mack Hollins, WR, North Carolina
4 (132) Donnel Pumphrey, RB, San Diego State
5 (166) Shelton Gibson, WR, West Virginia
5 (184) Nathan Gerry, S, Nebraska
6 (214) Elijah Qualls, DT, Washington

Defensive end Derek Barnett was a no-brainer at 14. He will become a scary pass rusher for an Eagles defense that is predicated on speed. Sidney Jones was similar to the Jaylon Smith selection from a year ago however he should be on the field faster.

Jones was the best cornerback heading into the draft before he tore his Achilles. Rasul Douglas should pick up the slack until Jones gets back but I have to admit I thought it was a bit early for him to be selected.

They would go back to back at wide receiver which was obviously out of need but I thought they could have found more productive players at the position early on. I mean the whole idea is to load up on weapons for quarterback Carson Wentz right?

Well the team missed the chance to do just that on several occasions and opted to attempt to fix the defense. The Eagles focused on fortifying their strength, the defense instead of making Wentz’s life any easier.
