Orlando Scandrick, Cornerback

The prediction that veteran cornerback Orlando Scandrick could find himself on another team later this year certainly makes sense. The Cowboys were rumored to be shopping the 30-year old defensive back during the second day of the draft last month.

Scandrick has not been the same player over the past few seasons as injuries have taken their toll. He’s played a total of 12 games in the past two seasons, recording 46 total tackles, 2.0 sacks,  eight pass defends and one interception last year.

With $10 million left on Scandrick’s contract through 2019, and following a draft where the Cowboys added four players to their defensive secondary, this once-deprived roster is starting to look a bit crowded. And Orlando could be the first to go.

A fifth round selection out of Boise State in 2008, Scandrick has always played with a chip on his shoulder. And it’s that intensity that has been credited for his stellar play in the past. But it’s that same cutthroat attitude that could eventually lead to his dismissal from Dallas if Scandrick is deemed a deterrent to the growth of their younger players by the Cowboys’ coaching staff.
