With the 246th overall selection in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select Colorado DT Jordan Carrell.

With their first selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys got their pass rushing war daddy in Michigan defensive end Taco Charlton. In the second round, the Cowboys began to shore up their defensive secondary by selecting Colorado defensive back Chidobe Awuzie.

Going into the third day of the draft, the Cowboys picked North Carolina wide receiver Ryan Switzer. Then the Cowboys traded a future fifth rounder to the New York Jets to select Xavier Woods, a safety out of Louisiana Tech.

Then, the Cowboys traded back to #216 in sixth round to select Florida State cornerback Marquez White. And with their first pick in the seventh round, Dallas got Florida defensive tackle Joey Ivie. Then the Cowboys added Ohio State wide receiver Noah Brown at pick #239.

Jordan Carrell, Defensive Tackle, Colorado

Here’s what you need to know about the young prospect and the newest Dallas Cowboy:

Height: 6’2”
Weight: 290 lbs.
Combine 40 Speed/Vertical: 4.98/31 1/2
2016 Numbers: 46 total tackles, 6.0 tackles for a loss, 5.0 sacks

Player Breakdown: Credited with 13 quarterback pressures during senior season at Colorado. Fills a similar role that fellow seventh round selection, Florida’s Joey Ivie, will. This pick is all about potential.

Cowboys Analysis: A raw, developmental prospect. Carrell enters what is suddenly a very crowded defensive line locker room. Certainly not a lock to make the final roster but at least has an opportunity. Likely a camp body at best. Good candidate for the practice squad.
