Second Round Targets: Defensive Backs

Tre’Davious White (LSU)

White is an exceptional cornerback, I just do not know if he fits with this team. Not because of anything specifically the Cowboys do but more because he is used to facing speedy wide receivers, not big bodied players such as Brandon Marshall. White is also a finesse corner who does not look to make contact but rather looks to take the ball away in the air.

His takeaway numbers are an issue as well and could be a sign of things to come. It would be hard to fathom after the disaster that was Morris Claiborne the Cowboys spend another first round pick on an LSU cornerback so soon but I still like the value he would represent in the second round.

Cordrea Tankersley (Clemson)

Tankersley is a great outside cornerback but should struggle to deal with NFL wide receivers in open space. He loves to use his hands to slow down receivers and could lead to penalties in the pros. He is not a shut down cornerback by any means but he is smart on the field and if he can temper his aggressiveness should be a fairly productive player.

Adoree Jackson (Southern California)

Jackson has developed a lot and could be ready to lead a defensive backfield. He had a great last season in college and should ride that momentum to the pros. He is a little small for the outside spots which means he could be most effectively utilized as a slot corner. Jackson is a terrific athlete with a high motor so he should fit in nicely with an NFL defense.

My Favorite: Cordrea Tankersley
