Dallas Cowboys Draft: A Perfect Three Round Mock?
By Carl Daley
Perfect Three Round Mock – Round #2
There are a ton of great players in the second round and most of them also have the potential to be a day one starter. Going with our first round selection, the Cowboys will either go cornerback or pass rusher. Watt could be available in the second round but it is doubtful by the time Dallas is on the board.
I have a feeling that a lot of the best corners will slide to the second round. Cordrea Tankersley from Clemson, Adoree Jackson from Southern California, and Teez Tabor from Florida would all be top caliber picks in the second round. The most well rounded pass rusher in the second round could be Kansas State defensive end, Jordan Willis or Ohio’s Tarell Basham.
The Cowboys are somewhat forced to take a cornerback here especially if they go safety in the first round and realistically bringing in another end before we see if defensive ends DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory are true franchise players may hinder their growth. Rebuilding the secondary has been on the to do list for quite some time and this move goes a long way to doing just that.
Tabor has moves and an athletic playmaking style reminiscent of Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson. So if he is available, Tabor would be an A+ selection for the Cowboys. He also seems to be the best cornerback available out of the players listed. A true second rounder versus a borderline first round player also adds a little luster to Tabor’s value.
