What are the remaining holes?

While the Cowboys still have plenty of holes, don’t expect them all to be filled prior to the draft. Priorities remain at pass rusher, defensive back, backup quarterback, and right tackle.

There has been a lot of speculation that Dallas could have a reunion with longtime ex-Cowboy DeMarcus Ware. This would be an ideal reconciliation for America’s Team to bolster their lack of a pass rush. Money remains to be the number one question regarding this potential deal.

Other pass rushers still on the market include: Connor Barwin, Dwight Freeney, and Chris Long. If Dallas is unable to re-sign Ware I wouldn’t anticipate any of these other guys signing here as they simply don’t have the production needed.

The market has a lot of quality interior defensive lineman still available as well. Player like Dontari Poe and Bennie Logan.

At cornerback, two of Dallas’ starters from last season are still free agents in Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them returns on a short contract.

Then, of course, there is a long list of players we aren’t very familiar with that the scouts likely are. Don’t be surprised if the Cowboys end up grabbing a few depth guys you’ve never heard of prior to the draft.

While every hole wont be filled in free agency, the front office of America’s Team has done a solid job of freeing them up to draft the best player on the board in April. It’s a long-time between now and the offseason program. This Dallas Cowboys team could look much different six weeks from now.
