Random Thought #1

• It looks like the San Francisco 49ers will cut their dual-threat quarterback, Colin Kaepernick. Should Dallas pursue?

No.

Look, I once thought Colin was one of the few who could turn the tide and mold into one of the few mobile quarterbacks to last in the game. I was wrong. The 28-year old isn’t going to make it in San Francisco under Chip Kelly’s scheme, which happens to benefit Kaepernick’s skill set.

He’s not the right guy for Dallas. But that shouldn’t change the fact that the Cowboys need a solid number two quarterback behind rookie Dak Prescott.

Which leads us to:

Random Thought #2

• Jameill Showers regressed at certain aspects of his game. He’s not a rookie. He’s been around. He’s had his chances. Right now, he needs more time develop. Personally, I didn’t see enough to give him the second quarterback spot.

I’d feel better with a Matt Cassel or Brandon Weeden. Now that is saying something!

Random Thought #3

• Stop with the “Cowboys should cut, release, or trade” Tony Romo talk. It’s not going to happen. The likeliest that this scenario ever takes place — pending nothing happens to his contract — is in 2018.

This isn’t a Madden video game universe people.
