With the NFL Draft this week, Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey believes he could be a game-changer for the Dallas Cowboys.

With the fourth overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft this Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys are expected to have their choice of one of these three elite players: Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa, Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott or Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey. That’s of course assuming the L.A. Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles select quarterbacks with the first two selections in the draft.

Although all three rookies could make a major impact on the Cowboys roster in year one, Ramsey likely has the biggest question marks. Although considered by many to be the best overall athlete in this draft class, there are major questions about whether the former Seminole can effectively play cornerback in the NFL or if he is better suited to play safety.

At the heart of the argument is the fact Ramsey recorded a total of three interceptions while at Florida State. And the Cowboys need more of a ballhawking, playmaker in a defensive backfield that recorded a league-low 11 takeaways in 2015. But according to Ramsey himself, the prospect believes he could be a game-changer in Dallas like linebacker Von Miller is in Denver.

"“I can play where they need me to,” Ramsey told the Star Telegram recently concerning the Cowboys. “I feel like I can work outside, in the slot or play deep. I have a lot to learn, have to study receivers, learn the defense I’m in, but I think if I put the work in, I’ll be able to move around if they need me to. But I’ll do whatever a team, or the coaches, want me to do…I’m a player who can do a lot of things for a team, can make plays, be a game-changer. That’s what’s needed. Most people think just offensive players can make plays, change games, make big plays, but as we saw in the Super Bowl this year, Von Miller, he was the game-changer. He was the playmaker.”"

Ramsey certainly doesn’t lack in confidence, as would be appropriate for the first true freshman to start at corner at Florida State since Deion Sanders. If he makes it past San Diego with pick #3, I’m not sure Dallas will be able to pass up on the brash defensive back, regardless if he plays at cornerback or safety. Ramsey’s the type of player you simply want on your roster.

During a press conference on Monday, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones confirmed as much when talking about Ramsey and the fact he was once suspended from a game due to being overly physical in practice.

"“If you are up at the top of this draft, you would really somehow like to come out with something like that. Now that’s one of the hardest things of all to find. But when you see one that got suspended and couldn’t play in the game because he was too rough on his own players, that a good sign that [Jalen Ramsey] enjoys the physical part of the game.”"

Ramsey clearly believes he’s a game-changer. And it seems the Cowboys feel the same. If Ramsey is available when Dallas’ number is called fourth overall, I’m not sure the Cowboys will pass him up.
