ROUND 7

At just twenty years old, it’s hard to believe that Romeo Okwara has four years worth of college football under his belt. As a Freshman and Sophomore he played as a linebacker for Notre Dame, before transitioning into a defensive end for his final two seasons. Combined he had 61 tackles and 12.5 sacks – leading the Irish in sacks last season.

"“Had a big senior year. Athleticism jumps out on tape and in person. He can put his hand in the dirt and drop in coverage. I like him as a prospect. He seems to have fun out there, which teams like to see.” – Scout at Notre Dame Pro Day"

He’s an exciting pass rusher; long and able to finish his tackles. The last two years moving to the defensive line saw him pack on some more weight and perform with much more power. It really feels that Okwara is still learning about his body and finding that ideal weight and position.

He can look sluggish coming of the edge and doesn’t have those quick twitch instincts. However, he’ll be just 21 by the time the NFL season starts. You want him to get stronger and add to that pass rushing arsenal. He has raw potential and could be that moldable lump of clay that coaches love to get their hands on late on in the draft.
