Cowboys: Five free agents looking for a fresh start in Dallas
3. Bruce Carter, Linebacker
They call him Bruce. Bruce Carter.
The Tampa Buccaneers are expected to release Carter (at the time of this writing). The middle linebacker recorded 47 total tackles, two sacks, and two pass deflections over 14 games as a Buc under coach Lovie Smith.
With Rolando McClain’s status still in the air – though the Cowboys have every intention to keep his name in the books – the opportunity for Carter to return to Big D is a realistic one.
The middle linebacker, who turned 28 last February, is a Rod Marinelli guy. He is a very productive player. Having played four seasons with the Cowboys, Carter saw his most productive season in 2014.
He recorded 68 combined tackles, one sack, eight pass deflections, and five interceptions over 13 games.
My Final Verdict: Yes, please. Carter has a lot of talent and after losing his job to Kwon Alexander, the man will probably have some fire in him to prove himself. The Cowboys need that fire. Carter needs a job. I love how that works out.
Come back home Carter! (For the right sticker price, of course.)
