After a 4-12 regular season where the Dallas Cowboys struggled without a proper quarterback under center, longtime sports columnist Peter King tweets Johnny Manziel wants to go to Big D.

Let the Johnny Football madness begin. Following the Dallas Cowboys death kneel, that being a 34-23 loss to the Washington Redskins in the final game of the regular season on Sunday, the fans of the 4-12 franchise likely want some mourning time to be used as peaceful reflection. Instead, they’ll likely be getting an eye and earful of Manziel Watch 2016.

More from The Landry Hat

Ever since the Cowboys revealed that former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel was one of the top five or six players on their entire draft board when their number was called in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, but elected instead to choose future two-time Pro Bowl offensive guard Zack Martin out of Notre Dame, the rumors linking the franchise and the former Heisman winner have been rampant.

The fact the Cowboys have struggled this season without a proper quarterback behind starter Tony Romo have only amplified those speculations. It’s also well known that Dallas owner and general manager Jerry Jones is a fan (calling Manziel a great one and comparing his talent to that of Ben Roethlisberger) and would love to have the player on his roster, if for nothing else than his marketing potential.

Of course, if Manziel was actually successful in Cleveland, the team that drafted him two years ago, then all those rumors would have simply floated away. But now that the Browns have cleaned house, firing both head coach Mike Pettine and general manager Ray Farmer on Sunday, the team seems all but done with it’s former first round pick of only two years ago. And it now appears Manziel feels the same way about the Browns.

According to longtime sports writer Peter King of the MMQB.com, Manziel wants his next stop to be in Dallas.

Of course, this is all speculation unless the Browns actually release Manziel, who is currently under contract until 2018, with a team option for another year. In two seasons with Cleveland, Money Manziel has thrown for a total of 1,675 passing yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. He’s also ran for 259 yards and one rushing score.

Manziel started in eight of his 14 games as a professional (loose term) in Cleveland. And he has a career completion percentage of 57.0%. Just for comparisons sake, former Brown, ex-Cowboy and current Texans’ quarterback Brandon Weeden has a career completion percentage of 57.9%.

That being said, Manziel had shown improvement this season. And his college career is legendary. Bringing Manziel to Dallas on an inexpensive prove-it deal makes sense (and cents). But as of today, Manziel is still a member of the Cleveland Brown. Not so sure that will be true tomorrow.
