Q is for quarterback

"“The quarterback is not only the team’s biggest decision maker, but his ability to make timely plays and efficiently manage the game routinely determines which team lands in the winner’s circle at the end of the season.” – The most important position is the quarterback"

The Cowboys or perhaps Cowboys fans didn’t realize just how important quarterback Tony Romo was until his prolonged absence this season. Without number 9 the team stuttered, failing to secure victory in seven successive games.

Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassel aren’t leading quarterbacks; they’re never going to be. Time ticks by for Tony Romo no matter what Jerry Jones says. Eyes will soon need to start looking to the future.

R is for rookies

The Cowboys rookies of 2015 have been impressive, and in many ways the highlight of a pretty bleak season thus far. First rounder Byron Jones held is own against the leagues best tight end in Rob Gronkowski. His versatility has seen him used at safety and cornerback and garnered comparisons to legendary Cowboys defensive back Deion Sanders.

La’el Collins will go down as one of the leagues best undrafted signings. Granted he would’ve been a nailed top round pick were it not for an unfortunate legal dispute. Collins managed to usurp Ron Leary for the starting left guard position and doesn’t appear to be letting it go anytime soon.

For the other rookies it’s been a quieter introduction. Randy Gregory flashed early on but was hampered by injury and receiver Lucky Whitehead has blown hot and cold in return duties.

S is for Super Bowl 50

This was the aim for the Dallas Cowboys this season, and while it’s still mathematically possible it will remain the goal.

The 50th Super Bowl is going to be held at San Francisco 49ers new Levis Stadium. Where else would be better to take a step ahead of the 49ers in total Super Bowl’s won than in their own backyard?
