Here’s the first part of an alphabetical look at the 2015 Dallas Cowboys campaign. Players, performances, coaches and quotes all come under our microscope from A through to Z!

A is for anonymous

While Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassel shouldered the blame for the lack of offensive dynamism in the Cowboys 7 losses this season, the likes of Terrance Williams and Gavin Escobar are just as responsible.

NAME GAMES TARGETS RECEPTIONS YARDS TOUCHDOWNS
Dez Bryant 4 33 17 209 1
Terrance Williams 9 50 25 373 2
Cole Beasley 9 42 32 334 2
Gavin Escobar 9 9 5 46 1

With Dez sidelined, Terrance Williams failed to step up and perform as a number one receiver. Lazy route running and his continual reliance on being a body catcher was particularly costly in the Week 7 lost to the New York Giants.

There’s some sympathy to be had towards Gavin Escobar. He’s a face that doesn’t fit in this Cowboys scheme. Don’t be surprised to see him move on and become a key player in the NFL. Nevertheless, just five receptions in 9 games when the team were in need of another big weapon is a poor return by the 6ft 6in receiver.

B is for breaks

A broken collar bone for Tony Romo and broken foot for Dez Bryant together seemed to break any dreams fans had of seeing their team head to Super Bowl 50.

C is for contracts

The offseason was dominated by contract talks. When it came to Dez or Demarco Murray, #88 won out with the latter now donning the green of Philadelphia. Dez got paid and Tyrone Crawford and Cole Beasley got hefty new deals. Rolando McClain resigned for a year and Greg Hardy was bought in with a similar performance related deal.

Contracts are still a hot topic for the Boys. With such Romo missing timing again, fans are calling for a top draft pick to be spent on a quarterback next season, but where does that leave the mammoth deal Romo currently has? Will the Cowboys continue to pay McClain and is Hardy worthy of renewal?
