Lee’s fellow linebacker Anthony Hitchen’s has a brace of sacks and 22 tackles so far this year but also sat out practice today.

Hitchens’ exited Sunday’s game soon after Lee and just prior to the Eagles touchdown.

When Lee was unavailable for the whole of last season, it was Hitchen’s who stepped up to the mark in his place and with both players questionable the Cowboys may turn to yet another rookie replacement.

Greg Hardy has caused a splash among the defense this year, making tackles and deflecting passes as though each game is his last.

Not dissimilar to the performances of linebacker Rolando McClain last season.

This year however, McClain’s performances have been muted by comparison.

I wasn’t alone in feeling excited at the prospect of seeing McClain partnered with Lee at linebacker this season, but Week 1 aside they haven’t produced the expected dominant performances.

Today, McClain joined Lee in sitting out practice with a hand injury.

"“He has made some plays. But just the consistency throughout games and making those impact plays. He did that a lot last year. He has shown flashes of playing at a high level. He will tell you more than anything else he needs to play more consistently to be able to make plays in the run and the passing game.” – Jason Garrett"
