Tight end

It doesn’t seem to matter how bleak things are for the Dallas Cowboys, you can still rely upon Jason Witten. Even two sprained ankles and an injured knee weren’t enough to hold him out of a game this season.

A top ten fantasy tight end option since he’s been in the league and currently sits in 6th spot ahead of Martellus Bennett, Greg Olsen and Jimmy Graham. Old, slow – call him what you like, Mr Reliable will get the job done for a while yet.

Defense

Given the injuries and suspensions across the defense, seeing the Cowboys sit in 27th for fantasy points after 5 weeks probably isn’t a surprise. Thankfully an incredible first half display against the Patriots in Week 4 can give hope.

With 11 sacks for the season already surpassing last years total of 27 seems more than achievable. The area for concern will be turnovers. Forcing plays is pivotal in the Rod Marinelli defense and the Cowboys were one of the best last season. However in recent weeks they’ve failed to capitalize on opportunities when they’ve arisen.

With fans often streaming their defenses week on week in fantasy, the Cowboys could become a viable option again. Greg Hardy‘s destruction of Tom Brady in Week 4 gave an insight to just what they can expect from the pass rusher and add to that the recovery of rookie Randy Gregory don’t be afraid to look at your waiver wire each week.
