8. Sam Acho, Linebacker

Age: 26
Drafted: 2011, 4th round
Previous Team: Arizona Cardinals
2014 Stats: 31 tkls, 1 int, 1.0 sack
2014 Salary: $1.4 million
2014 PFF Position Rank: 69th

Analysis: Acho’s four-year career started with promise. His first two seasons in Arizona, the former defensive end out of Texas flashed his potential as a pass rusher recording a total of 11.0 sacks.

But Acho seemed to hit a wall prior to breaking his leg in a Week Three loss to the Detroit Lions in 2013. Although he started in every game for Arizona last season, he was ranked as one of the worst linebackers in the NFL.

Perhaps a switch back to defensive end in the Cowboys’ 4-3 defense would take more advantage of Acho’s pass rushing skills he displayed in his first two seasons with the Cardinals. At only 26-years old, signing the native of Dallas to a one-year prove it deal makes sense to me.
