6’3,” 280 lbs. (27 on July 6)

Clayborn is very productive, when he is healthy.  There in lies the issue with him however.

In two years, he has produced 13.5 sacks and five forced fumbles.

In the other two years of his NFL career he has played only four games.  This was due to a torn ACL in his second year and a torn biceps last season.

Even with the injury history, there is still a lot to get excited about when it comes to Clayborn.

He is a former first round draft pick with good speed (he ran a 4.7 in his 40-yd dash) and seems to use his hands extremely well to disengage from blockers.

Could he take his game up a level under the guidance of defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli?

His rookie deal was a rare fully guaranteed $8.2M over four years.  Because of his injury history, the Cowboys would be wise to offer him no more than three years for something in the neighborhood of that $8M.

To sweeten the deal, they could add play based escalators which could take the money up to $10M.
