Rumor: Dez Bryant Contract Delay Due To Alleged Mystery Video Tape?

With NFL Free Agency just around the corner, many are pondering why the Dallas Cowboys have not yet signed All-Pro wide recevier Dez Bryant to a new contract. Many have speculated that off-the-field issues in Bryant’s past have been the main cause of concern by the Cowboys. And therefore, it’s more than likely America’s Team will simply elect to franchise tag the superstar for one year over the risk of signing him to a long-term deal.

But now, new speculation has risen of a possible incident recorded on a video tape from years ago as an alleged reason for the Cowboys’ hesitancy to sign Bryant to a multi-year financial commitment.
In a radio interview with 105.3 The Fan on Friday morning, Pro Football Talks’ Mike Florio responded to allegations of a unknown video tape as a possible reason for the Cowboys’ resistance to sign Bryant for more than a year at a time. Here’s what Florio told Shan & RJ about this mysterious story and video tape.
"“It’s one of the best, I guess I would say, best kept secrets in the media because no one’s reported it yet. But there is a story that all of the major insiders know about. That we’ve know about it for months. It involves a video tape. And i don’t know that it exists. I know people have been trying desperately to get it. I know the Cowboys are aware of it. And because of that, and possibly other reasons, the Cowboys have been very reluctant to commit major money to him. That’s been kinda the open secret among the member of the media. So, what you guys are hearing is accurate. Again, I don’t know that it does exist. That’s what the talk has been. No one has reported on any of the details. But it relates to off-field concerns.”"
When it comes to Bryant, the Cowboys have had to deal with their fair share of off-the-field issues in the past. To think there might be an early video tape out there of another such incident, and one that could possibly threaten Bryant’s career, is not only palpable, but it’s also frightening.
