Cowboys’ rookies decorate linebackers room
Calvin Watkins – ESPNDallas.com
"IRVING, Texas — Dallas Cowboys linebacker Justin Durant had seen enough. He was tired of the rookies messing up candy and water orders for road trips for the veterans. So Durant made rookie linebackers Anthony Hitchens and Keith Smith decorate the linebackers room with a Halloween theme. There are orange tablecloths, goblins, spider webs and hanging pumpkins.“We were letting the rookies get away with murder and having a real easy year,” said Durant, the eight-year veteran and oldest member of the group at 29. “They don’t have our candy on time, they don’t have our waters in the refrigerator and stuff like that. So we decided to take it up a notch and I made them decorate for Halloween.” Click the title to read more…"
Gruden: RGIII progressing, but McCoy on track to start
Dan Hanzus – NFL.com
"Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden continues to play it coy regarding Robert Griffin III. Gruden told reporters on Thursday that Griffin is “steadily progressing” in his drills, but an announcement on the quarterback’s availability against the Dallas Cowboys won’t be made until Monday night. When asked if the Redskins were still proceeding like Colt McCoy will start Monday, Gruden replied, “Yeah.”Gruden said Griffin took some first-team reps Thursday and explained that rust is now a bigger factor than the ankle injury that has sidelined the QB since Week 2. Gruden acknowledged the challenge of prepping McCoy for his first start while also working his Week 1 starter back into the mix. Click the title to read more…"
Paris church continues prayers for Dallas Cowboys
Chelsi Smith – Kxii.com
"PARIS, Texas — One Texoma church is praying for the Cowboys and it seems to be working. In August, Reverend John Burton with First Christian Church of Paris began running a local radio ad during the cowboys games that ended with, “let’s pray for the Cowboys defense, it sure looks like they are gonna to need it.”Well now the Cowboys have the best record in the NFL at 6-1. Burton says he just threw the ad together and wanted it to be humorous, he even wrote about it in his newsletter. He says while many people love the Cowboys there are much more serious things they do pray about. Click the title to read more…"
Hatcher Not Surprised By Dallas Defense’s Improvement This Season
David Helman – DallasCowboys.com
"IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys’ defensive turnaround has come as one of the surprise storylines of this NFL season, as they’ve improved from worst in the league last year. He might be on a different team now, but that reversal doesn’t come as any kind of shock to Jason Hatcher.“Coach Marinelli, I knew from the day he got the job he was going to change things around,” Hatcher said Thursday. “I know what kind of guy he is, and I knew it wouldn’t be long before those guys were playing well.”Hatcher was perhaps the lone bright spot on the Dallas defense last season, as he earned a Pro Bowl selection for his 11 sacks on the year – most in the league among defensive tackles. He leveraged that success into a four-year $27.5 million contract with Washington."
