After Thursday night’s final preseason game against the Denver Broncos, the Dallas Cowboys coaches and front office now have the difficult task of trimming down their roster from 75 to 53 players by Saturday. And as many of those fringe players had their final opportunity to plead their case for making this Cowboys team last night, I thought it would be a good opportunity to revisit my final 53-man roster prediction from earlier this week. As I do, please keep in mind that Dallas should be major players on the waiver wire this weekend. And this “final” roster is far from final.
Quarterbacks
Who Stays:
Tony Romo, QB
Brandon Weeden, QB
Who Goes:
Dustin Vaughan, QB
Analysis:
Although Vaughan proved he is worthy of being a developmental quarterback for this aging position on the Cowboys roster, Dallas simply has too many needs elsewhere is justify keeping three quarterbacks on the team’s final roster. But the undrafted rookie out of West Texas A&M has certainly earned himself a spot on the extended practice squad.
