Since we are in full-throttle offseason mode, I thought it might be appropriate to share the key upcoming dates for the NFL.  I know die-hard Cowboys fans are watching closely for upcoming big events, and we are always ready to provide you with the information you need, when you need it.

The next big event to watch is the NFL Combine which will be held February 19-25 in Indianapolis, Indiana, but a quick note on the NFL Regional Combines in the table below.  They are essentially smaller combines for any player who did not get an invite for the main combine in Indiana.  At the regional combines; scouts run players through drills, gather their measurables, and at the end a video of the player’s workout is provided to every NFL team.  The players must pay to participate, so they have to be serious about the workout.  Anyone is eligible for the regional combines including players who have been out of the league for a while.  Media presence is typically scarce at the regional combines, but they do occur every year.

One other important item to note is that since defensive end DeMarcus Ware in 2005, only one other top Cowboys player drafted, cornerback Morris Claiborne in 2012, was not invited to Valley Ranch for an official pre-draft visit.  Head coach Jason Garrett clearly holds the pre-draft visits in high regard, so draftnik’s should keep an eye on who Dallas brings in for visits leading up to the May 8th draft.
