A Dallas Cowboys Christmas
By Michael Huff
It was two days before Christmas, I was alone at my place
With no chance for Saints’ fans to get all up in my face

As I made plans to support my team ‘cause I care
I was hopeful the Cowboys did all they could to prepare
And as I hoped the defense would follow their reads
I also had hope the stars on this team would step up and lead
As I planned to wear my favorite players jersey
I was sure they would give me no reason to worry
As the kickoff ensued, I heard such a clatter
I looked closely at my screen to see what was the matter
The Saints returner had taken off in a flash
Until the Cowboys tacklers arrived with a crash
Was the best play of the Cowboys finished and done?
Or was this a sign of good things to come?
On the Saints first down a big play I did fear
Until Anthony Spencer knocked Drew Brees on his rear
With the Cowboys defense playing so good and so quick
I was sure the Saints fans were feeling quite sick
I was sure I had never seen the Cowboys play quite this fast
These no name defenders were making their chance last

Now Ernie Sims, Alex Albright, Michael Coe and Sterling Moore
Were showing us everything we were watching them for
Because these players were giving it their all
I started to feel sure that these Saints would soon fall
Then when the Cowboys on offense let the ball fly
I knew they were going to do more than just try
When DeMarco Murray was handed the ball he flew
And just like that in a flash I knew
I knew what I perceived as the truth
This Cowboys offense would blow off the roof
I was amazed at what I had found
These Cowboys had really turned their season around
Even if the Saints kept it close I had reason to root
Because we can always count on Dan Bailey’s foot
It seems that when it has come down to that
Bailey wins the game by putting the team on his back
The Cowboys would give us a reason to be merry
And the Saints just didn’t seem all that scary
So away with the victory the Cowboys did go
With me leading the chorus of “yeah, I told you so”
Early in the season the fans had a beef
But late season heroics had led to relief
They stunk so bad you could say they were smelly
Then we began to see what they could be, really
When the players quit thinking so much about self
The talent they possess becomes an abundance of wealth
When they play as a team on the same page instead
Their opponent’s hopes are soon left for dead
With their commitment to do what works
They showed the world they are not just overpaid jerks
So in the NFL, as in any endeavor, it goes
Dedication and commitment to hard work shows
I’m sure at some point criticism caused the players to bristle
I glad they responded with additional hustle
So in the end, as day turned to night
I was happy with the win as I said Merry Christmas and good night!
